Flash 55 - Avian Love

 flash 55
A story in exactly 55 words.
0001 Peter Penguin had to be pinioned. The people feared his piercing stare and his big protruding proboscis. Dressing in a tuxedo could not hide his bizarre proportions or his permanent smile. Interspecies mating was still against the law in most states, against most religious beliefs and just plain creepy to the rest of the world.

  1. It is not easy when you are different. But anyone in a tuxedo looks dashing.:)

  2. ScoMan: Yes. People are so narrow minded.

Zuzana: He does cut an impressive figure.

  4. It's not his fault.

I like the font, by the way but I have to ask whether "plane" is a pun or if you meant "plain."

    ReplyDelete
  5. Brian: That would be pretty yucky.

Doug: The font is papyrus - my favorite. Good catch on "plane." That pun wouldn't work there. I was just tired last night. I fixed. Thanks.

  11. Peter Penguin's petering peter! Sorry, had to get that off my mind.

You made an excellent 55 this week, as always.

Mine this week is another 'non-fiction' fictionalized version. Butt to naked butts

[if you care to read, scroll down below my Friday's Show n Tell piece]

    Have a great weekend.

  13. Nessa, I've missed you (my fault, I guess)..

As for your very creative "55", that word FEAR stood out to me both times, as being a strong guiding force in our inhibitions, our square thinking, our prejudices, even our wars.

Thank you for a good post.
    PEACE!

  14. I guess in this case the clothes do not make the "man".

  15. Susan: Sounds like the makings of a classic.

    Anthony: I have picket signs...

    Mumsy: Thanks.

    Jennifer: He's pouting.

Peter Stone (not Peter Penguin): Absolutely adore alliteration.

Hootin' Annie: Who can resist a butt post?

Tom: He must really be scary if he scares you.

Steve E: Hi. This is a no fault zone. FEAR rules my every move.

Alice: He needs a better tailor I think.

  16. Nice 55, Nessa. We can all feel sorry for your fellow. I can see others have tried to help him.
    So here goes:
    ..
He needs to stick to his own kind. I know the cows wouldn't like him nor the pigs. The wild animals are his kind, he should stay at the Pole.
    ..
I know that isn't the right response, it is 50 years out of date.
So, I would tell him to get rid of the tux and join the crowd. The more the welcome. Does he play sports?
    ..
    I just can't behave, can I?
    ..
