mini monday

I like little toys.
I think they're adorable.
Some good things do come in small packages.

~ click image to make biggerer ~

The blue forklift is metal and he is the Guido character from Cars.
The bamboo sailboat is almost 40 years old and was given to me by my Oma.
Silver vampire fangs are a girl's must have charm.
And last, a quartz stone frog.

Other things, not so much.
Here's a list of synonyms for mini.
Looking at them,
I feel that none of these words are really positive
(neutral, at best)
and some are quite negative.

bitsy, bitty, diminutive, dwarf, itsy, little,
midget, minute, mini, petite, pint-sized, pocket-sized, puny,
runty, small, stunted, teensy, teeny, tiny, undersized, wee

a wee ditty

if i were small
i could do it all
travel in a vein
hide on a plane
visit some ants
living on plants
ride on a worm
defeat a germ
dehair your ear
to help you hear
& when it's lost
regardless of cost
i'd squeeze in a crack
to get it back

rabbit, rabbit - trippin' man

vanessa v kilmer (c) 20080301

You don't need to take drugs.
Just stare at the image above.
Leaves lovely flashes when you look away.

Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ εїз Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

hop, bunny, hop
the pavement is hot, hot, hot

you'll burn your toes
'til they're black as your nose

which is unattractive

Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ εїз Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

Have a hoppy July.

the game of love

He loves me
He loves me not

Is a dangerous
Game to play

You pluck each
Petal of a bloom

Hoping to get
Not the nots

Much better a
Happy ending

He loves me
He loves me lots

Flash 55 - let xmas begin

we’re always in such a hurry
running here and there
don’t stop to smell the turkey
quick, fast, make haste, scurry

so let’s make it an official rule
do only one holiday at a time
pause, savor, appreciate
our time before the yule

but now that thanksgiving is done
we can enjoy our Christmas fun

Flash 55 - Trees

~ the trees below Hogwarts Castle ~

I think that for little old me
there’s nothing better than a tree:
it cools me off for free
when the temp is a hundred and three
which fills me with glee;
it can hide you when you need to pee
which none of us want to see
as I’m sure you will all agree.

I like trees. Do you like trees? Trees do wonderful things.

They clean up the air, among other things,
like they give us shade,
perform the duty of a natural umbrella and
provide monkey bars for squirrels.

According to some research,
this blog contributes to 8 pounds of CO2 emissions per year
but one tree can obsorb 11 pounds per year.
Good deal.
You can read all about it at GREEN GESTURES
If you have a blog and post about this,
they'll plant a tree in your blog's honor.
Shiny!

Ew!

i hope that man gets a fix
though it’s odd how he gets his kicks
he’s a sad sort of fellow
all blue and yellow
until he eats him some raw cake mix

flash 55 - cleanliness

~click to make biggerer~

How neat and clean are your home and house?
Have you rid yourself of every villainous louse?

If someone has infected your heart with a germ,
leaving your soul sick and your mind infirm;

if your days are rife with unending strife:

you must purge anything evil and demonic
with an immeasurable gin and tonic.

Flash 55 - Witch Love

~ click image to make biggerer ~

dance a jaunty jig
to keep you on your toes
for only the lord knows

that your task is beyond big

sing a saucy song
to tame the wild breast
for inside resides a beast

that sadly will never belong

tell a telling tale
to warn all living souls
for without loving controls

that bind a heart so frail
fragile love is bound to fail

Flash 55 - I'm Alive, You're Alive

I'm Alive, You're Alive

I survived the world’s end;
I hope you did, too, my friend.
I wish you the happiest of holidays;
I hope for lights and hearts ablaze.
I think the coming year will be grand,
I hope my prediction will stand.
I want to be extremely right.
I hope you don’t find this ditty too trite.

My Family Is Better Than Your Family

yeah, we know we’re super hot
which doesn’t mean that you are not
our dna has made us comely
handsome, strong, smart and lovely

look at those beauteous faces
with noses in all the right places
eyes deep set
hair dark brunette

you can’t beat our family stock
we understand when you look and gawk

Flash 55 - The Beginning and the End

a new year is about to start
the old one going out like a fart
i say things will get better
contradicting the Mayans’ stone carved letter
there’s still plenty of time
to live life all prime
do what’s closest to your heart
be it science or art
before the world comes to an end

Thursday 13 – A Love Story Gone Wrong

Johnny showed up at my house on Thursday,

With a message from his boss in the form of medical traction.

My arms in desperate pain, I protested any infraction.

“The love potion you sold him failed.”

“Impossible,” I wailed.

“Did he drink it at midnight on the dot?”

“Right on the witching hour’s spot.”

“Did he stand naked under the full moon?”

“Just like a love hungry loon.”

“Did he gaze upon his lady love?”

“Yes, the woman as sweet as a turtle dove.”

“Sounds as if the potion passes.”

“No, she wore mirrored sunglasses.”

Flash 55 – So Sorry

20100211 023I asked for snow, that’s a fact
I’m really sorry about that.
We couldn’t see the roads
Snow fell by dumpster loads
It made people sad
I was far from glad
In future, I’ll take more care
when putting my wishes out there
Now, I’m asking for Spring flowers
Who knew I had such powers?
flash 55[4] Flash 55 is hosted by G-Man (Mr. Knowitall). The idea is to write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to, take part pop over and let G-man know when you’ve posted your 55. A Poem A Day #10 - Man Friday

For today's prompt, I want you to write a poem about Friday. Do you like Fridays? Despise Fridays? Of course, you can also write about something that happened on a Friday--or write an ode to Fridays. Or, as you know, I'm all for seeing you attack this from an angle I haven't thought of yet.

Man Friday

I wish I had a Man Friday,
a servant to do what I say:

pay all the monthly bills,
pick up my prescription pills,

throw out the rotten fishes,
clean up the dirty dishes,

feather the two inch dust,
grocery shopping a definite must,

the floor would meet the mop,
dinner would be more than slop,

wash the piles of dirty laundry
and never charge me a single fee.

What I need in my life
is an old-fashioned wife.

Drunken Sailor

"Tugboat"
Delaware River, Philadelphia, PA 07-07-07
Copyright 2007 Vanessa V. Kilmer

I wrote the following rhyme in response to a rhyme written by David McMahon. He has a little feature he calls "Verse and Worse" where it has become commonplace to comment in rhyme. He also has lots of hints and suggestions on photography, writing and looking at the world in new ways.

SAILOR
I went and took
a nice long look
and what did I see
when I glanced at the sea?
In a sinking boat,
barely afloat,
a scurvy sailor
who was more of a bailer.

The Pain Only Lasts a Minute

This is the first of many verse.
They will get worse
before I'm through.
What can I do?

While this one is awfully bad,
I know you're glad
to see me write.
But don't take fright,

for you won't hear me whine and cry,
I've said good bye
to my writer's block
so don't you mock.
