We Have Liftoff

Between loads of laundry and cleaning out my studio, I have been writing on my NaNoWriMo novel and I am happy to annouce that I am ahead of schedule. I have written 8,449 words. That's 114 words more than I needed to finish by the end of day 5. You must average 1,667 words a day to hit the 50,000 word winner mark at the end of day 30.

And I am leaving off at a place where I will be sure to continue on with lots more words. I'm not saying they are very good words, but according to the NaNo people it's quantity not quality. I can get behind that.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I will need them as the month progresses, so stick with me please.

I am now off to read everyone's blogs as a reward for my hard work.

See you all there.

  1. Good for you! It really is quantity, not quality. The hardest parts are easier to make pretty if all you're doing is editing.

  2. I am seriously impressed. I have been telling myself, go, go, write for an hour, just an hour, and have found every single excuse not to. But fear not, I shall have the hour, or I shall know the reason why.

  4. Kat: I'm hoping. I can edit and fix until the cows come home, but I haven't finished anything very long.

Jenn: I've been telling myself, just a few more words, just a few more words. And so far, they've added up.

    PTB: Thanks for the pep.

  5. If I wrote a novel for NaNoWriMo, it would start like this:

"Mom?" Tommy called. "Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom?!"

"Back here Tommy! In the kitchen!" Mom replied.

    "Where?"

    In the kitchen?!"

    "Where?"

    In the kitchen?!"

    "Where?"

    In the kitchen?!"
